Every week a child from each class will be awarded the kindness cup - a special trophy that sits on their desk for the whole week. A child is either chosen by their teacher or nominated by their peers for displaying kindness that week.

The winners for this week are:

3B – Harriet

3G - Freya

3R - Lola

3Y - Jacob

English

In English this week, we have created a 'How to...' guide. We used our knowlege that we have built across the term from our topic 'How my body works' to write a guide informing people how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Next term we will be starting our new text 'Revolt against the Romans' and writing an informational handbook for Roman soldiers.

Maths

Our Maths learning this week has been focused on division. We have been grouping and sharing and using the partitioning method to divide large, 2-digit numbers.

Next term we will be moving onto time, half term would be a great opportunity to practice telling the time at home.

Thematic

In our thematic learning this week we have been learning about Buddhism, we had a fantastic workshop on Wednesday where we learnt about the religion further and got to ask some fantastic questions to deepen our understanding.

Next term we will be starting off with some Personal Development learning. This will focus on Physical Health. The children will be learning about making healthy life choices and the focus text will be “"Eat More Colours by Breon Williams”. The children will be learning about a healthy diet, first aid and making safe choices online.

Homework

- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.

- Children have now been given their log-in details for Times Table Rock Stars. They should be playing this at least 3 times a week to build their confidence and fluency with times table knowledge.

- Children have been given a ZPD to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.

Welcome (renaissance-go.com)

- Spelling shed homework has also been set for the children to complete by next Friday.

- Please see the homework menu attached for our thematic homework.

Thank you to all of our wonderful Year 3 children for all of their hard work this term! We hope that you have a fabulous and restful half term break and look forward to seeing you on Monday 19th Febuary for the start of Term 4!
