One Childhood - One Chance

Harvest Festival - Wed 22nd Oct

Please click this link to access information about our Harvest Appeal on Wednesday 22nd October.

This year, we have chosen Fegans Christian Charity to support with our Harvest Appeal on Wednesday 22nd October.

Fegans alongside the Queens Road Baptist Church are supporting two initiatives this year, the Gap Project and Compassion Ukraine, and we ask you for your support in raising money and donations of produce for these worthwhile causes.

The Gap Project run a drop in at Queens Road Baptist Church every weekday afternoon from 2-4 (except Thursday). The drop in is for those who are homeless, insecurely housed or in financial hardship and living in the community. There are now currently up to 15 people each day (8-10 on average) attending our drop in session. They can have a free cooked meal, a shower and make use of laundry facilities. They may also take a food parcel away once a week. We also partner with another local charity offering resettlement support. We are committed to supporting people to find housing and improve their life circumstances. Our approach is to help people out of crises and help them to become self-sufficient so they can move forward with their lives.

We have a larder where we collect food and other practical items to give out to those in need:

For the larder....
Packets and ready to cook food like super noodles, pot shots, pot noodle
Tins with ring pulls - beans, ravioli, tinned meals etc
Long life milk
Tea
Coffee
Squash
Cereal
Other dried food ie pasta
Other Practical Items: boxer shorts medium and large, tracksuit bottoms, medium and
large, warm jumpers, (second hand is fine) bedding - sleeping bags
(can be second hand too).

Compassion Ukraine is a local charity that supports children and young people in orphanages in the Ukraine. They try and visit the orphanages every year to give training, help and resources as well as sending regular resources and funds for equipment and treatment for the children. The children have varying levels of needs and disability and the charity works hard to make the daily life of the children better and brighter. Every penny of any money given will be used wisely to continue with this vital work in the very unsettled country of Ukraine.

Thank you again, as always for your unwaivering support!
