Welcome to Year 3!
Welcome Year 3!
We hope your child has had an enjoyable first day at Upton! It was wonderful to see their bright smiles and enthusiasm as they settled into Year 3, across the course of the day. The first day is always a mix of excitement and new experiences, and we are thrilled with how smoothly the children transitioned into school routines.
Children have had a fabulous day, engaging in a variety of activities designed to help them feel comfortable in their new classroom environment. They’ve already started forming connections with their classmates and adults, and we’ve seen some fantastic energy and curiosity in the classroom.
We understand that the first day back can sometimes bring up questions, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to discuss how your child is adjusting. To find out how your child is settling into life at Upton, teachers will be hosting meetings for parents on Monday 16th September, throughout the afternoon. Further details will be sent out later this week.
Reading records:
Reading assessments (Star Reading Assessments) are taking place this week, which will mean that children will be given a reading level based on our Accelerated Reader Program (AR). This reading level will be written inside their reading records and over the next week, your child will come home with a book that offers appropriate challenge and interest. This program also means that your child will have access to a wider range of books throughout the school. Further information about the AR program will be sent out in due course.
