One Childhood - One Chance

Homework task Friday 7th May

In Geography, we have been using atlases to name the countries and surrounding seas and oceans of the United Kingdom.

This week, we have been learning about the United Kingdom and its four constituent nations and the surroundings seas and oceans. We have learned how Great Britain is made up of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. We have also learned about the patron saints of each of these countries and how these are represented on the Union Jack flag.

Your home task this week is to choose one of the four constituent nations of the UK (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales) and to research and find out more information about it. This could include the population of people, the landscape, interesting landmarks, how the land is used, history or more information about the patron saints. The options are endless, and you can present this in any way you choose! Ready, steady....research!

As an additional challenge, can you find out why Wales is not represented on the Union Jack flag?

Due date: Wednesday 12th May 2021.
