One Childhood - One Chance

5R debate important questions!

This week, we started our new class text, The Firework-Maker's Daughter but in the first chapter one of the characters says that girls cannot be firework makers. The main character in the book, Lila, dreams of making enchanting, magical fireworks and is saddened that others feel this way. As a class we couldn't believe it either and so we debated whether girls should be firework makers. This led us to discuss the importance of equality and that everyone should be able to chase their dreams no matter their gender.
