Home Learning Task:

We have focused on how Broadstairs has evolved over time. Your task is to choose another village/town in Thanet and research how it has changed over time.

English:

This week children have been learning to parenthesis, colons and semicolons to their writing. The children created a Chimera animal (a single organism that's made up of cells from two or more "individuals") that could be found on the Pacific Islands, from our core text Kensuke’s Kingdom and have thoroughly enjoyed being creative and using their imagination in their writing.

Next week, we will finish reading Kensuke’s Kingdom, we are so looking forward to seeing what happens.  We will be writing a survival guide on how to survive on Kenzuke’s Kingdom. The children will need to think about everything they have read and apply this to their guide. They will also be writing a letter to Kensuke.

Maths:

This week in maths, we have been focusing algebra, looking at missing numbers, building expressions and then solving equations. We have really focused on the inverse operation to work out the missing values.

Next week, we will be moving onto extending our algebraic knowledge in a variety of contexts, for example a range of investigations. This will allow the children to apply their learning.

UBBC:

This week in Geography we have been exploring both the human and physical impact upon our landscape. We have built upon this knowledge of how the world has evolved over time and have focused on our locality: Broadstairs.  We have also created some art work based on evolution.

Next week, we are researching different landforms and building on our knowledge from previous years. We will then complete our end of unit quiz and have some time for independent research, where we can further develop our understanding on this topic – ‘The Circle of Life’.
