English:

This week children have delved into our new book - Emma Carroll's "Letters from the Lighthouse".  We have read the first three chapters of this text. Our writing focus has been to use figurative language to write an emotional narrative about experiencing WW2. Our reading focus has been to infer, wonder and question what we think might happen in the story. It has been a super start, and we cannot wait to continue exploring it! Our focus next week will be poetry linked to war and expressing language in a creative way.

Maths:

Maths is all about Measurement this week! The children have explored metric and imperial units; getting practical with different equipment and converting units of measurement. Next week we will explore area and perimeter of 2D shapes.

UBBC:

The first week of every term starts with PSHE and our Theme for this term has been looking at equality in relationships. The Year 6 teachers have been so impressed with the children's understanding and discussion of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion this week. Next week we will be starting our UBBC topic based on WW2: We'll Meet Again!
