We have been getting to know each other over the past two days - learning our peer's names and our similarities and differences! 

I have loved getting to know all of 3G a little bit better and being back to school with such a fabulous class! They have all been so well-mannered, positive and enthusiastic. 

I look forward to seeing all of their smiling faces again on Monday!

Yesterday was a super day in 3R! Inspired by the picture book "Journey" by Aaron Becker the pupils planned, illustrated and wrote about their own journey they could undertake. They storyboarded their ideas, added key vocabulary and spent the afternoon writing and describing. I was SO impressed by the children's passion and involvement.

It is a picture book that has no words. We read it by looking at the pictures closely and carefully. Today, we have written our  own versions of the story, using the colour that we are wearing. Some of our stories took us to castles, space, the Titanic, Legoland, fashion land and the future! They are VERY exciting.

Our overarching PSHE theme this term is "Relationships". We reflected on the positive family and friendships that we have and how important our relationships are with others. The children filled a star with names and illustrations of the people that light up their lives. They enjoyed sharing the special people in their lives with the rest of the class.

Every class took part in a Mindfulness session across the week; learning breathing and other sensory techniques that they can use to focus on the present. Mindfulness will form a daily part of Upton life from Term 4.

Our Core Value of the term is Respect, and so the theme of our Upton University work is respecting the environment. Using recycled material, a group of 3R,4R, 5R and 6R children created a print of an endangered animal. Using watercolour and poster paints we created a piece of art that reflects our love for these precious species. Well done Red House!

We discussed their functions and how they may have changed throughout the years. This linked with our History learning in our UBBC topic "It's a Small World" as we compared our local landmarks with a landmarks in South Africa.

The assembly's theme was Roald Dahl, and several Matildas, Fantastic Mr Foxes and Mr Twits graced the stage! The children sang beautifully - "When I Grow Up" from Matilda the musical, as well as speaking clearly and enthusiastically.  Well done Team 3R - what a great achievement!

They were looking for 16 numbers dotted on a map, which they then had to follow and uncover 16 letters. These letters led them to discover a key word linked to our new topic..... AUSTRALOPITHICUS!
