What a super first two days we have had back at school; full of fun, learning and new routines. It was so wonderful seeing the pupils step into school for the first time as new and sensible Year 5s - ready to represent Upton's Upper School. We inferred lots of information from this wordless picture book; understanding why the author had decided to keep everything black and white at the start and then begin to add in colour as the girl walks through the door. 

5B have produced wonderful pieces of writing this week including a setting description, a prequel, a narrative and a character profile. They are really embedding their use of adjectives and adverbs to help describe and are beginning to use some great similes, metaphors and personification in their writing.

Book week was finished in a lovely opportunity in which the children were able to read to their parents in school - sharing a book together before the weekend!
