Technology at Upton
At Upton we recognise that technology is advancing at a tremendous rate and at times children are more adept at using technology than the adults around them! We are fortunate at Upton to have a technology rich environment and make excellent use of these technological assets.
Every classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards used every lesson. We have 140 laptops and 30 ipads used constantly by pupils. Our homework tasks are computer-based and enormous strides have been made in pupil home learning through pupils engaging with our MyMaths and Times Tables RockStar platforms.
Technology is used across the curriculum in many areas. From filming our own news programmes for English, researching a subject for topic work, using video analysis in PE, audio recordings in music or programming of robots in computing, children at Upton have these links to move into a technologically advanced future.
Too much of some things though can turn into a negative. With technology in the form of ipads, phones and other screens so prevalent at home, Upton have introduced a 'Tech-Free Friday' initiative at school whereby no technology is used at all for teaching and therefore no screen time.
