Home Learning:

This week, we have been looking at how dragons are significant in Chinese history and shared the story of the four dragons. For your homework this week, we would like you to either:

  • Research a Chinese dragon story and summarise the key points.

OR

  • Write your own Chinese dragon tale. Remember, they link to something significant to the country, like the rivers in the four dragons story.

Homework is due in on WEDNESDAY.

 My Maths:

Once a week – Friday to Friday.

Tasks will be completed online, with new tasks set every week.

Tasks will always follow the subjects being taught in class that week.

English:

Our English lessons this week centred around recounts. For the first half of the week, we wrote a letter from Lila to Lalchand apologising for her behaviour and to update him on her journey. Today, we wrote a diary entry as Lila to express her feelings about being home but worried about her father’s possible execution.

Next week, we will finish the book and write a newspaper report about the firework competition.

Maths:

This week in maths, we continued our fractions work by subtracting proper fractions and mixed numbers. We did this through the use of flexible partitioning and improper fractions.

Next week, we will conclude our work on fractions and complete our end of unit assessments.

Thematic Curriculum:

In our afternoon lessons this week we have made oracle bones from clay and discovered that they were made from ‘dragon bones’ and questions were written on them. The questions would then be answered by the priests during a divination ceremony. We also made our own dragons using Plasticine.

We finished the week by looking at artefacts and the clues historians would have used to work out what they were, and looked at who Fu Hao was – the first known female military leader and the most successful and powerful leader of her time.
