Year 6 Update and homework – Friday 21st October 2022

Remember that swimming will be for 6R and 6Y on a Monday afternoon next term. Children need to come in dressed in their PE kits on a Tuesday.

This week, the children explain and justified their ideas through a very intense debate: “Should the Highwayman be hung for his crimes?” Year 6 were passionate, persuasive and spoke with fantastic expression!

Home Learning Task

The children have completed their first term of Year 6 and we are so proud of them! Throughout this half term can they showcase what they are proud of achieving at Upton in Term 1? This could be a subject, lesson, activity, competition entry, poem, piece of art or club that they are included in. They can explain what they enjoyed about this through drawings/a poster/poem/powerpoint or any other form they wish!

We look forward to hearing about this!

Weekly Review:

What a great week we have had!

In Maths, we have explored the order of operations using BIDMAS and applying mental arithmetic strategies. These are fundamental to the children’s development of number.

In English, we have been writing about our current text ‘The Highwayman’ written by Alfred Noyes. The children have engaged in debates and persuasive writing this week, which has improved their ability to explain and justify their ideas.

In Topic, the children have reflected on their term and explored their own safe space and identity in PSHE, as well as studying Judaism in RE.

Have a fantastic and safe half term, and we look forward to seeing you next term.
