One Childhood - One Chance

6Y Book Recommendation .... FLOODLAND .... A MUST READ

6Y have finished the text Floodland and have written some reviews.

Author: Marcus Sedgewick .

Star rating (personal): 4.5

Age rating: 8-13

Floodland is a novel written by Marcus Sedgewick. It starts with an action-packed beginning, with young ten-year-old Zoe Black fleeing from a mob of gangs trying to steal her boat. She then escapes and finds herself on Eels island, where more mystery unfolds. Who is the strange boy Dooby? What secrets could he be hiding? Filled with betrayal, violence, and confusing chapters. This book is not recommended for children under 8 years old. It’s a book where you could make lots of theories, about characters backstories, and how they even became who they are. I found the ending quite quick with not enough suspense. Therefore, I am giving it a 4.5-star rating.

My rating on Flood land would definitely be a 4 star it was a brilliant book and I would recommend it to age 10 and over. Every page was full of excitement and adventure.  The only thing I would change about it is the loss of Willam as for he was my Favorite character and I loved hearing about his wakey stories like I was there at that moment. I think When the main character Zoe finds her parents it all builds up the story and how the poor girl had been lost for over a year and finally finds her parents after a long journey.

The worst character is definitely the brutal leader Dooby who will do anything to get off the island even if it means hurting people or leaving his tribe behind or alone. Dooby has a cunning streak about him and uses Zoe to help him escape the island but for Dooby that all goes wrong.... read the book to find out what happens

Floodland is an amazing book with loads of suspense and action. I felt like I was with Zoe on that same adventure. I really recommend this fantastic book. I love this book because it makes you feel excited and sometimes, he leaves it on a cliff hanger so we start asking more and more questions. I think it should be appropriate for people over 6 or 7 because there is nothing better than understanding climate change especially in these harsh times. when they grow up it will give you a very good understanding of climate change. I love the part when they meet her parents, it was a very touching moment. My least favourite character was Dooby because when the fight began, he was planning to ditch them after leading them into the future. He is selfish and horrible. But my favourite character was William because of his very true story's. The sad thing is though is that no one listens, they just laugh and move on. The most interesting character was munchkin because at the start he was cruel and viscous but, when Zoe helped him, he started to open up a bit more and see a different personality. I rate this book 4 stars.

Floodland by Marcus Sedgwick is a must read and is based on a girl called Zoe who takes you on a seat edging adventure through the crashing waves of the sea to a small island with the most Selfish and peculiar People . But not all is bad for Zoe as she still has high hopes that she can one day be reunited with her family .

Age rating

I would recommend this book for 10 or 11+ due to some violent moments that may be inappropriate for younger children  .

I feel the most interesting character to follow throughout the story is munchkin because you see how he grows to be more confident throughout the book and is just scared of the other people around him but he feel confident with Zoe . You can also see his personality change throughout the book as he becomes more open about his past Later on .

I would give this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and a half star rating it is an excellent read .
