One Childhood - One Chance

Weekly Update 11.02.22

Well done for a fantastic Term 3!

Year 4 have had a brilliant Term 3, they have all worked so hard. The Year 4 team wish all the children and families a restful and enjoyable half-term break.

English - In English this week, Year 4 have been working on their persuasive writing features. The children have written very well-thought-out letters to 'The British Museum' in order to persuade them to return the Greek Marbles to Athens. The passion that the children have shown for this piece of writing has been incredible! Next term, we will be starting the book 'Romans on the Rampage' by Jeremy Strong.

Maths - In Maths this week, we started our new unit of fractions. The children have looked at identifying what a fraction is and how to find and count in tenths. Next term, we will be continuing with fractions, firstly looking at equivalent fractions.

UBBC - In UBBC this week, the children evaluated the experiment we started last week. It was so fascinating to find out how different liquids could affect our teeth! We also conducted our own research to answer any final questions we had about our topic of 'Greece'. Next term, we will be starting our new topic of 'The Romans'.

Key reminders and messages:

Monday 21st - Inset day

Next term Blue and Green class will be swimming on a Monday.

PE will be on a Thursday for all.

1st March - Will be our WOW day for our 'The Romans' topic, as part of this, we would like to invite the children to dress up. We really do not want you to spend any money for this special day, so please get creative! A superb Roman costume can be created simply using a flat white sheet and a few pins.

3rd March - World Book Day. We have chosen 'Harry Potter' as our book. The children in Year 4 can come to school dressed as a character from this book.

Have a lovely half term!
The Year 4 team.
