We started the term with our PD day. This term we focused on what children should do in an emergency, who they call and how they manage such a situation. We listened to the story 'Bad Seed' and learnt how people can change their mindset from negative to positive. The children summarised the story by drawing key images in chronological order. After this, we learnt and discussed bad habits. We spoke about being able to break bad habits and what measures we could take to try this.
English
This week, we started our new text, 'Street Child.' The children wrote a character description about Mr Spink the landlord, focusing on figurative language and adverbial language. Next week, the children will be writing comparative letters from the perspective of the main character, Jim with a focus of emotive language.
Maths
This week, the children have continued their transformation learning. They have learnt how to reflect a shape in the x and y axis, how to identify a mirror line and discussed misconceptions when reflecting a shape. Next week, the children are starting a new unit for units of measure. They children will be converting measures, problem solving and using tables.

Homework
- Please read with your child at least 3 times a week.
- All children have been given a ZPD to help them identify the correct books for their reading level. Once your child has read their book, they will need to complete a quiz on it before getting a new one. These quizzes can be done either in school or at home on Accelerated Reader using the log-in codes found in their reading records.
