Fantastic Mr Fox is a fabulous story written by the brilliant Roald Dahl. He tells the tale of a legendary fox who has made a habit of stealing food, to feed his family and friends, from the nasty farmers: Boggis, Bunce and Bean. Mr Fox is very intelligent and outwits the horrid farmers every time. However, as the story unfolds the farmer’s hatred towards Mr Fox grows and they begin to plot against him.
The farmers make many attempts to capture Mr Fox, and eventually they devise a cunning plan to dig Mr Fox out of his underground home. What the farmers do not realise is that Mr Fox has a fantastic plan of his own. Mr Fox and his family manage to outsmart the farmers again by digging deeper underground. This leaves the reader wondering how Mr Fox and his family will ever survive underground without food, and with Boggis, Bunce and Bean slyly waiting for him to appear so their ambush can commence.
This is a story that I remember reading constantly as a child, and still thoroughly enjoy reading now. Mr Fox’s journey is filled with excitement, humour and adventure, making it a highly captivating read. In addition to this, the remarkable illustrations by Quentin Blake really bring the story to life.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I do!
