One Childhood - One Chance

6 G Setting Descriptions

Read below for some amazing setting descriptions

The cathedral walls were crumbling, it was very dangerous even to be a foot away so she watched from far back, her belly knotting with fear. She looked up and up, but somehow it didn't stop getting taller and taller, then when she got nearer to the cathedral, she gulped. She didn't know what was awaiting her. Apparently, many years ago the walls used to be light grey but somehow, the stones had turned jet black and were crumbling. It was very dangerous to be near the towering building. Beneath the cathedral were a row of deathly jagged rocks. Suddenly, Zoe saw a mysterious figure in the window. She gulped again and tried to scream but it was more like a hick-up. It looked like a castle but half of it was gone. Was it even a castle? Or was it something much worse? All the windows were cracked and smashed, it seemed like a dreadful place and as Zoe approached the battered hole ridden Oak doors, she was about to find out. Shaking with fear and as if in slow motion, she reached out towards the mangled door knob. - Charlotte

Standing proudly, being surrounded by the sea-blue ocean below there was the cathedral! Sadly, there had been to help to maintain it so it was left all by itself to rot. Each brick was uniquely shaped, some big, some small.  From a distance it was just a building, but close up it was a building embedded with memories from each person who had lived there.

As you walked to the entrance, over the drawbridge you could finally see what it was really like. Murals filled with past memories of people who were loved, and cared for. Benches smashed in two. Its former glory now gone, never going to be restored. Outside, the bare, naked trees sway in the wind as it whistles through the cracks each one having experienced centuries of this.

Moss clung in the shade of the ancient Cathedral walls like a straggly beard. The clock ticked; each tick was a second less of this Cathedral being able to stay up-right.  Through the window you could see the flower-beads struggling to survive as no hope was left for them.  - Lola

The walls stood tall and strong like trees towering in a forest. As I was lurking around in the corner of my eye, I noticed the windows had random drawings on, and rainbow-like colours but I knew they had faded for the years that the cathedral had been through.  The stones were huge like boulders on the side of a mountain and stronger than blocks of steel even though they looked like they had just been picked up of the ground. They were all different variations of sizes some were big and some were small but they all slotted together like a jigsaw.

You could tell that the building was once loved and cared for but over time I could tell that the owner had lost interest and taken no notice in it anymore. There are cracks running along the walls like roads that have no destination just leading from one wall to another.   The trees that were covering half of the cathedral were bare and had no leaves and looked like they had been drained of all their colour. The scenery that was around the cathedral had no life not even an animal could be seen or heard. There was a deathly silence about the whole place.

But when you looked at the cathedral it would be towering over everything.  When I walked into the derelict cathedral I was hit by a horrid smell. It was damp and old and smelt like death. I noticed all the seats were broken and old as if they were there for eternities. The widows were covered in dust and cob webs. The celling was crumbling like it could collapse at any moment. All the walls had support beams as if it would collapse even though I thought it still wouldn’t fall in another thousand years. - Ben

The cathedral walls were crumbling down, vines were slowly growing, shattered glass was on the floor, most of it was still intact while the stones held it up, each one was unique and had different sizes that was bound to crumble, from a distance the cathedral looked like a gust of clouds but from close up it looks like something nobody imagine and that it would be the last thing they could imagine. The space of it was massive and that even if you tried to run across the platform it would take you breath away before you even cross the corner, the once smooth rock turned into loose worn rocks that you couldn’t even touch as it would pry through your finger, it was truly a bad experience.

From the outside there would naked trees that looked like they had just gotten washed up and waited centuries for somebody to stop its misery, the once bushes had just been laying on the floor as stones kept on hitting it the cold damp air made her curl into a snail, the remaining's of the cathedral were soon to be gone.

The inside was truly magnificent to see how intact it was and how normal it was, mini bits of glass were found on the carpet that the wind blew onto it, the delicate glass bits shined like the sun that could wipe your eyes in one second, the cobble on the inside felt rough while the chandeliers were hanging by a thread, it was dark but the painted glass was pierced like a cannon just got chucked out, the vases was still intact while the flowers were dead but the smell still smelt like flowers and the taste in the air was thick but sweet at the same time, paintings were still hung up... - Abishek
