One Childhood - One Chance

Year 3 - Term 3 Week 2

Another busy week in Year 3

It has been a busy first full week in Year 3 this term. We started the week with our RE day, where we learnt all about Buddhism. We learnt about the story of Siddhartha Gautama and acted this out in groups.  This week, we also had our Stunning Start in topic. We started to learn all about forces (push, pull, twist and turn) and used this knowledge to create a piece of artwork, inspired by Jackson Pollock, using different forces. We used straws to push the paint around, we used gravity to drip the paint onto the page, and we used pushing forces to splatter the paint.

In English, we have started our text 'The Iron Man' and wrote beautiful setting descriptions using expanded noun phrases and similes. In Maths, we are either adding and subtracting or working on multiplication and division.

Next week:

In Maths, we continue will continue with multiplication and division or addition and subtraction.

In English, we will be writing character descriptions of The Iron Man and will start looking at newspaper reports.

In the afternoons, we will be investigating friction.

KEY INFO:

Homework will be set weekly on MyMaths and Spelling Shed.

It is also expected that the children are reading regularly, and completing their quizzes in school.

Additionally, the children should be playing Times Tables RockStar regularly.
