One Childhood - One Chance

Week 3 update

Another jam-packed week in year 4!

Year 4 have had another busy week of learning! On Monday the children came into school wearing odd socks to signify the start of Anti-Bullying week. We finished the week by celebrating Children in Need. The children came in dressed in an assortment of their own clothes and clothes and accessories adorned with Pudsey bear.

Maths:

Children have been learning their 3, 6 and 9 tables this week, looking at the links between them and their division facts.

Next week- they will be learning their 7 times tables as well as their 11’s.

English:

This week we have been writing about Skeleton woman, creating some artwork to help inspire them and to act as a plan for their writing.

Next week we will be reading more of our new text, ready to dive into it at a deeper level, as well as looking at different sentence openers and writing a setting description.

Topic:

This week we located the different plate boundaries on a world map. We located the Ring of Fire and added this to our own maps. We also learnt about the advantages and disadvantages of living near a volcano.

Next week- the children will look at Pompeii, and the eruptions of Mount Vesuvius.

Home Learning:

We will be looking at the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the impact it had on Pompeii. Can you create a fact-file about Mount Vesuvius? You must include its location, some information about some key eruptions and some interesting facts. You can do this electronically or on paper. Try and use some of the key vocabulary you have been learning about in class.
