One Childhood - One Chance

Weekly Update 2.12.22

Week 4 in Year 4!

Maths:

This week we have completed our current unit on multiplication and division. We will now spend time consolidating our understanding of Place Value and Addition and Subtraction.

English:

This week we have been busy writing a newspaper report about the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, focusing on including direct speech. Next week, we turn to poetry! We will be exploring and composing a range of winter-themed poems.

Topic:

This week we have been writing like historians and geographers, covering Pompeii and major earthquakes in recent history.

Next week we will continue our work on earthquakes and utilise our D & T skills to design and build an earthquake-proof structure.

Home Learning:

You are a volcanologist about to undertake an exploratory mission to a local volcano. Can you draw and label your protective outfit and any kit you might need on your venture?

Upcoming Events:

Christmas Fair!

Next Friday (9th) is the Upton Christmas Fair. Each class will run a variety of stalls in their classrooms during the afternoon. The children have been asked to organise themselves in groups to resource and run a stall of their choosing. This runs much like the Summer Fair but, unlike Year 3, it is not one class stall. If your child is stuck for ideas, please encourage them to approach their class teacher who will be happy to help.

Next Week:

Monday – normal day

Tuesday - Rs and Ys swimming

Wednesday - PANTOMIME

Thursday - normal day

Friday – CHRISTMAS FAIR
