Weekly News and Looking Ahead

Some of the Roman artefacts and replicas we handled at the museum.

Dover Museum Trip

This week Year 4 visited Dover Museum to learn more about Roman Britain, and the Romans that settled in our local area.

We took part in an artefact handling session, where we had to investigate objects, some of which were from Roman times!  This was great fun and we really impressed the archaeologist with our knowledge of Roman life. We have been listening well in our classes at school!

We also earned how to create some 3D Roman soldier faces using clay. It is going to be great fun painting those.

Dover museum is full of exciting objects, so we had some time to look at all the displays and find out about a bronze age boat that was discovered buried in Dover!

Homework

Write a 'thank you' letter to Ronnie, our guide at the museum, explaining:

  • what you learned
  • what you enjoyed the most
  • why it is such a great museum for school trips.
  • Thanking her for making sure our day went really well.

Remember to start and end the letter correctly. You could add drawings or a border if you want.
