Excellent week for year 4!

Key Messages:

  • Reminder to ensure children are reading at home and bringing in their reading records.
  • Please ensure children are wearing correct school uniform and shoes including ties and lanyards.
  • Please ensure children are bringing in their water bottles.
  • As the colder weather begins to creep in please ensure children have coats.
  • PE days are Thursdays- please prepare for outdoor PE too.
  • Year 4 Panto day Wednesday 13th December - children will need a coat, water and a  snack (that fits in their pocket)
  • Christmas Fair day is on Friday 8th December. Children will be setting up their own stalls in groups of their choice. The initial deciding phase and planning happens at school. They work as a group to come up with a Christmas stall idea and then resource the stall themselves from home. It is ‘wear something festive to school day’ or non-uniform.

If you have any questions relating to the Christmas fair, then please see your class teacher or head of year.

This week's kindness cup winners are:

4G- Rupert

4R- Lucy

4Y- Vrutti

Maths

This week in maths, the children have been learning about constructing and interpreting time graphs. They have learnt how to draw a time graph with the correct scale and then answer questions relating to the graph.

English

In English this week, the children have been writing dialogue using inverted commas. They have written a conversation between an animal and a woodcutter which links to our text ‘The Great Kapok Tree.’

Thematic

This week began with a messy science lesson! The children learnt all about their teeth and how this then links to our digestive system. The children carried out an experiment to show how the food travels from the mouth, through the intestine and results in bodily waste! We then learnt about Mayan hierarchy and finished the week with writing a brochure for a Mayan museum.

Homework

Please see the homework menu attached. The children need to choose ONE activity each week that they would like to have a go at. There are 15 activities to choose from to provide a wide range of options. When they have completed a piece of homework, they can send it in either in the book, through photos or bringing something to share.

What a fabulous week year 4! Well done!
