One Childhood - One Chance

Week Commencing 26.2.24

Great second week for year 4!

In Maths this week, the children have been learning about time. They have learnt how to convert between digital and analogue time, 12 and 24 hour time and converting units of time. Next week, the children are starting decimals.

In English, the children have read more about Edward Tulane and focused on recount writing. The children wrote two diary entries based on events in Edward Tulane's life and finished the week by writing a recount of an event in their own life. Next week, the children will be planning and writing their own twisted fairytale at the beginning of the week and then focusing on a descriptive recount in the second half of the week. On Thursday, the children will be carrying out a range of reading for pleasure activities for World Book Day!

This week, we started our new topic, 'Innovation Station.' The children are learning about the Early Islamic Civilisation and how they contributed to the world we live in today. They have located Ancient Baghdad on the world map, learnt about the importance of the civilisation to our modern world and researched some of the inventions they discovered/created. Next week, the children will learn more about some of the scholars and continue to research in preparation for the parent drop in on Friday.
