This week we have been learning about China's rapid economic growth, and the impact on its environment and people. Research a different country's economic growth and create a fact file presenting your findings.

CHALLENGE - compare your chosen country's economic growth to that of China's. How are they similar? How are they different?

This week the children have been writing three different story openers for our text, The Firework Maker's Daughter. These have included:

  • A setting description using a range of figurative language

  •  A dialogue using direct speech punctuation and

  • An opening that is full of action which allowed the children to use powerful verbs and adverbs.

Next week, the children will be writing a letter from the main character Lila, using a range of emotive language and cohesive devices.
