Weekly Review:

This week in English we started our new class text ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. The children have been so engaged in this text and have shown fantastic predicting skills. We children have put themselves in the shoes of Michael, a young boy about to embark on an around the world journey, and have written a recount letter detailing the events from the start of the text. As well as this, the children have rewritten Michael Morpurgo’s story opening using description, dialogue and action.

In our afternoon topic lessons the children have been learning about Charles Darwin’s discoveries and the controversy he faced. In science, they have been learning about animals and plants and classifying them according to specific characteristics. The children have been so involved in creating classification keys and shown so much enthusiasm.
