Year 5 Segregation Poetry
Year 5's inspirational poetry session
As we have been reading 'Long Walk to Freedom' - an abridged version of Nelson Mandela's autobiography - we wanted to find out more about what inspired Mandela to help him to get through his 27 years of incarceration. We read his favourite poem, 'Invictus', by William Ernest Henley, and listened to poetry which was written about South Africa, segregation and Mandela himself. This inspired us to write our own poems all about our feelings based around these themes.
