14th May - Great news! We are happy to announce Afterschool Club will now be open until 6:15 pm.

If your child currently attends Afterschool Club, you do not need to reapply for a place, but if you would like to extend their hours then please contact us. Also, if you would like to sign your child up for a space, please email office@uptonjunior.com Places are booked for the week and paid for in advance via school money. 

Costs: 3:15pm- 4:15pm £20 for the week 

            3:15pm- 6:00pm £42.50 for the week

14th May - This is a reminder that if you have booked into the Viking Holiday Club, or Saturday Sports 4 All Club, your booking is not secured until full payment is received and the key survey has been completed. Once your booking is secured, you will receive an email confirmation to confirm your child/children's space(s). Please bring a copy of this confirmation with you when you drop your child off.

13th May - Principals Catering will be serving an exciting menu Fun Lunch menu on Thursday 20th May.  We would like as many children to take part as possible.  The menu will be:

Classic beef burger served in an unseeded bun with tomato ketchup (wheat, sulphites).

Or

Southern spiced Quorn burger served in an unseeded bun with tomato ketchup (v) (wheat, milk, egg, soya).

With

Chunky skin-on potato wedges & baked beans.

Homemade bread (wheat, milk, soya), fruit & salad.

Chocolate Ice Cream

Please pay in advance via www.principals-catering.com if your child is eligible for FSM you do not need to make payment.

12th May - A reminder that the Kent Life Trip to Maidstone is tomorrow:

  • Come wearing their ‘Evacuee’ costume (example attached)

  • The children will need to arrive at school for 8:30 am.

  • We will return to school at 4:00 pm, children can be collected from the playground.

  • If there are any extended delays a message will be sent via the MCAS app.

  • They will need to bring a packed lunch and drinks (preferably water) which are sufficient for the day in a rucksack.

Children who receive free school meals will be provided with a packed lunch by the school kitchen. 

We would like to ask parents to avoid parking on Broadstairs Road near the Broadstairs Road gate so that the coaches have space to park up and the children can safely and swiftly disembark on their return.

12th May - Just a reminder that if you haven't done so already the consent form for the Year 5 Kent Surf School trip must be completed by Friday:

12th May - Year 4 pupils need to bring in a shoebox next week to use on Wednesday 19th May. They also need clean yoghurt pots and small plastic bottles, please. Children will be designing and building environmentally friendly houses - therefore are using recycled products.

12th May - 4Y Swimming Reminder - 4Y will be swimming on Thursday 11th May.  

11th May - Just a reminder that 3G will be swimming on Wednesday 12th May.  Children need to wear school uniform and bring the swimming kit in a bag. Children will need a swimsuit (full costume for girls/fitted shorts for boys), goggles, swim hat and towel.

10th May - Year 6 will need their cereal boxes bought in by Wednesday 12th May, ready for use next week.

7th May - Next week, Year 3 will be working in groups to create pirate ships as part of our English text, Peter Pan. Please could we ask that if you have an empty shoe or cereal box at home, that you send it in with your child by Tuesday 11th May.  Thank you!

6th May - Just a reminder that tomorrow is NSPCC Number Day and to raise money children can come to school in Maths related non-school uniform in exchange for a £1 donation.  This can be anything from a t-shirt with a number or a dotty dress!If your child's PE day coincides with NSPCC Number Day please ensure their non-school uniform and footwear is suitable for taking part in sports activities.

4th May - Year 6 will need cereal boxes for a class activity we would like to ask that they are bought in by Wednesday 12th May.

30th April - Year 6 will be able to enjoy a WWII Experience Day at Kent Life, Maidstone on Thursday 13th May. Please complete the Online Consent Form Here by Tuesday 4th May, it will only take a moment to do. Full details are in the letter.

30th April - Don't forget Monday 3rd May is a Bank Holiday, the school will be closed.  We will return on Tuesday 4th May - gates open at 8:40 am with Registration taken at 8:55 am don't be late!

30th April - The optional home learning questions for Term 5 have now been set, your child's year group can be found here. Children who complete the home learning will receive a gold letter from Miss Watmough or Miss Papa-Adams in the post.

26th April - A reminder that 5R have swimming tomorrow.  Children need to come to school in their school uniform and bring their swimming kit (costume/fitted shorts, goggles, hat and towel) in a bag.

23rd April - NSPCC Number Day is on 7th May, children can come to school in non-school uniform in exchange for £1 donation.  For a little extra fun if they have something maths or number related to wear this would be great to see!

23rd April - There is still time to get those sponsorship forms in, remember the more we raise the more books we can get for school! We thank you for your support as always.

22nd April – We have been informed by Swattenden that they are unable to accommodate us this year.  We are currently looking at options for in-school activities as an alternative and will update you further once we have more information.

Those that have paid towards Swattenden this year will receive a full refund for any monies paid.  We will send more information on this shortly.

If your child was not planning on attending Swattenden they will still have the opportunity to take part in the in-school activities we hope to arrange.

22nd April - Don't forget tomorrow is the Year 5 Wow Day, children can come dressed as their favourite animal, an explorer or in a safari outfit!

20th April - Children will be bringing home their photo proofs today.  Ordering instructions are included with the proof.

20th April - A reminder that 5G are swimming tomorrow. They will need to come to school in normal uniform and bring their swimming kit in a bag.

20th April - Don't forget Year 6 PE day will be Friday's in Term 5 - children will need to come to school in PE kit on Fridays.

20th April - We have a few reminders following on from the message before half term regarding the school day: 

  • The gates will once again open at 8:40 am with registration will taking place at 8:55 am.

  • No dogs on the school site (excluding service dogs or by prearrangement).

  • The collection time is 3:00 pm - 3:15 pm (Pass users cannot leave class before 3:15 pm). Thank you for your continued support.

1st April - Year 5 will be taking a 'walk on the wild side' for their new topic and to help kick it off they will be enjoying a WOW Day on Friday 23rd April, please see the letter here for more information and costume ideas.

28th March - We have a few updates for Term 5 and 6 to make you aware of:

  • From Monday 19th April 2021, the school morning will return to pre-covid times.  The gates will once again open at 8:40 am with registration will taking place at 8:55 am

  • We have also revised the Inset Day due to take place on 7th June, this will now be a normal school day, with children expected to attend school as normal.

28th March - Thursday is the last day of Term and so there will be a change to the menu for school dinner on this day with be fish and chips being served.

26th March - Just a reminder following on from the newsletter the Year 4 Easter Bonnet Parade will take place on Thursday 1st April.  Children can bring in their home-made creations on the day, we can't wait to see them!

26th March - Viking Holiday Club dates for EASTER Holiday Club are:
Week 1: Tuesday 6th – Friday 9th April
Week 2: Monday 12th – Friday 16th April
VHC is open to all children attending a Viking Academy Trust school (Chilton, Ramsgate Arts and Upton) from Reception to Year 6.  If you have a sibling at another primary school that also wants to join the fun – no problem, they can come too!  We also have a NEW Saturday 'Sport4All' club which will run on Saturdays during the Easter holiday. 26th March - Year 3 will not be having a PE lesson next week so they will not need to come into school wearing their PE kit. The children will need to come into school wearing their school uniform every day.

25th March - Next week Year 5 will be doing some DT and need junk! We would like to ask parents to send in any cleaned out junk such as empty yoghurt pots, bottle tops and cardboard boxes on Monday 29th March.

19th March - Children will be making dioramas based on their current text in English - The Iron Man in class. We would like to ask that children bring in a shoebox-size box with a lid is most suitable before Monday 29th March which they can then use to make their diorama. 

 

 

 

 

19th March - The Year 4 WOW day will take place on Friday 26th March.  Children can come to school dressed as Romans or Greeks and will have a day of activities including creating greek mosaics, making Greek salad and a Roman archaeology hunt! 16th March - This is a reminder that if you book a space at the Viking Holiday Club, or the Sports 4 All Saturday club, your booking will not be confirmed until full payment is received. 15th March - Just a reminder that tomorrow is individual school photographs.  All children need is their wonderful smiles and full uniform.  If it's normally your child's PE day they will still need to come in uniform (no PE kits required). They may have 'lockdown' hair but please remind them they are beautiful with or without their hair styled, these will certainly be pictures to look back on.

15th March - 4G's PE day will be Friday this week, this coincides with Comic Relief Red Nose Day and so please ensure their non-school uniform is suitable for taking part in sports activities.

12th March - Dear Parents and Carers, On Wednesday 17th March, Year 3 will be baking biscuits as part of our English lesson. All allergies have been considered and steps will be in place to ensure that there is no risk of cross-contamination. The ingredients included: caster sugar, self-raising flour and butter.  Gluten-free self-raising flour and dairy-free butter will be used for those children with allergies. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your child's class teacher. 

11th March - Dear Parents, We have been liaising with the Schoolwear Centre and from today, you will have the option to have your uniform order delivered to the school free of charge. Orders will need to be placed over the phone by leaving a voice message or via Facebook messenger as the website will only offer the paid delivery service. Any delivery orders placed prior to today will not be able to be cancelled, however. Once received in school we will give the order to your child to bring home. Kind regards, Upton

8th March - Dear Parents and Carers, It has been wonderful to have all the children back in school again and of course, being back after such a long time we have a few reminders.  Firstly we would like to remind parents that there is no parking in the school car park at either end.  When using the drop off please drive into the drop off zone, drop off your child and drive out - do not park and please drive safely.  The school gates open at 8:45 am and close at 9:00 am. 18th November -  Please click here for information on the educational support we can provide if your child has to self-isolate. The criteria for this supports is:

  • You have been told to self-isolate by a government 'test and trace' service, because you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive ('NHS Test and Trace' in England)

  • Isolating due to a member of the household testing positive or waiting results

  • Awaiting test results

If your child's class bubble are informed they need to self-isolate we will provide a different option, this support is only for those children that fall into one of the above categories.

17th November - School photos will no longer be taking place on 19th November it is, however, rescheduled for 20th January 2021.

16th November - Please be aware from tomorrow the Broadstairs Road pedestrian gate will no longer be open at pick up time.  It will remain locked to preserve the one-way system we have in place. Once again we thank you for your support at this time and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

12th November - We would like to remind parents if your child does not attend Breakfast Club please ensure they are not dropped off at school before 8:30 am.  Children arriving before this time are unsupervised

12th November - Tomorrow (Friday 13th November) is a normal school uniform day.  Odd Sock Day is Monday 16th November, children can come to school wearing non-school uniform and odd socks for a £1 donation to 'Anti-Bullying Alliance' charity. **Year 4 ONLY** wear non-uniform sportswear along with odd socks due to it also being Year 4 PE day.

22nd October - We have been asked to share the attached letter with our Year 6 parents and carers from the School Public Health Service regarding the Height and weight check for children in Year 6. Click here to read.

20th October - Please note we have updated the usernames and passwords for your child's Microsoft Teams account.  This is just in preparation should we need to use this system in the future.
You will be able to access the information on the MCAS app or via www.mychildatschool.com click on the 'Reports' tab, when downloading the PDF please be patient.

20th October - Due to the ongoing Covid restrictions we are reviewing our wrap around care provision for next term. I am pleased to announce that we are now able to offer this for all children from the beginning of Term 2. We need to ensure the children remain as safe as possible so will be keeping the children in ‘bubbles’. This does mean, however, that if you need your child to attend you will be required to book a place for the whole week. You will also need to pay, in advance, via school money (under ‘Trips’ section) for all sessions, regardless of whether your child attends.

We will be offering the following services:

Breakfast club will run from 7:45am-8:30am and will cost £10 for the week.

After school club will have two sessions. 3:15pm- 4:30pm, costing £20 for the week and 3:15pm- 6:00pm, costing £42.50 for the week.

Please complete the key survey form here by 9:00am on Friday 23rd October. We will notify you by Monday 2nd November if your child is not successful in gaining a place. If you do not hear from us, the provision will start from Tuesday 3rd November. 

If you have already applied or your child is currently attending you will need to reapply to ensure your child has a space.

13th October -  Year 6 Parents - The Charles Dickens School has created a Virtual Open Day for Year 6 parents who are looking for a Secondary School for September 2021 Admissions.which can be view here - http://cds.kent.sch.uk/978/virtual-open-evening

8th October - Please find information from KCC here regarding admission to secondary school in Kent for 2021.

7th October - On Friday 9th October, children can come to school wearing yellow (just a little bit or all yellow!). To dress up in yellow they will need to bring a £1 contribution that will go towards Young Minds: a charity that raises awareness for young people who struggle with mental health.

30th September - Next week Year 3 will be learning about respecting our environment and will be creating bug hotels. 
We will scavenge natural materials on the school field but your child will also need to bring:
•    a container/base for their bug hotel, we recommend a 2L bottle or milk carton or a small shoe/cereal box. 
•    Additionally, any junk modelling items that can be used to add to their bug hotel. E.g. cardboard tube, bottle lids, pine cones, shells etc.

All materials need to be brought in by Mon 5th Oct.
