One Childhood - One Chance

The Lighthouse by 6B!

On Friday, the children watched a clip titled 'The Lighthouse', a beautiful and uplifting clip about coming together. After watching the clip and discussing it, the chidlren wrote their own narratives which are wonderful. Below are a few examples.

The Lighthouse by James

One gloomy night the lighthouse glowed as bright as ever, just below the lighthouse was a small village and every time the light shone past the village some of the people were cheering for the light as it passed their windows.

In the lighthouse was a little window shining bright and in the window was the man writing a letter and he could hear the people cheering so he slammed the window shut.

The man heard a clatter and then suddenly the light stopped, it stopped turning on the lights outside and then people stop cheering.

The window Slammed open by the terrible wind and blowing out his candle, it was so dark he tripped over as he rushed up the light house stairs.

Through the window you could see the shining light from his lantern going past every window as he climbed the stairs. He could see that the cogs had stopped working as he grabbed his toolbox, he run up another flight of stairs up to the big light, he opened the light.

As He looked through the glass and he could hear the big honking horn from the Ship heading straight towards the big cliff with the pointy rocks pointing out of the rough measurable sea, the ship didn't see where it was going so was heading straight for the rocks.

As He lifted the light and it was so dark, he tripped over his toolbox and broke the lights and the glass smashed into a million pieces and the ship was getting closer and closer to the rocks.

He thought of an idea, he rushed back down the twirly whirly stairs opening the door and to his surprise there was a shining light with all the villagers coming up with their lanterns going to the lighthouse to make their own human light and as he went on the lighthouse with all the other people with their lanterns, they shone bright, so the ship stayed away from the rocks.

In the middle of the eerie night, the light house shone all over the lake of darkness, lighting up the way for any lost soul to not crash into the peaceful village. The clouds were like puddles of Armies scattered along the battle field of the unknown. The villagers walking in the night with lanterns were stars dancing in the mid-night sky. The rocks were icicles of magma that rose up from the earth's surface, that were guardians guarding the beloved village.                                                                                                         The villagers were cheering and chattering and enjoying their moments at the lighthouse, the light keeper was inside of the light house working endlessly during the night. He got really distracted in the cobble light house and thought best that he closed the window. Suddenly! The cogs and main generator of the light house goes “Clang” the light slowly faded as the darkness slowly swallowed the village. The light keeper looks very surprised and worried. He slowly goes up the creaking stone stairs that look all worn and demolished. As soon as he gets up the: old, ancient locale he gets his tool box and checks the cogs and the light. He tries to walk down, but he falls over and the light bulb scatters into millions of tiny stars twinkling in the night sky.                                                                                                              Hs face becomes a bomb of shock, he quickly thinks what to do but, a humungous boat is heading straight for the cliffs. He pants down the spiral stairs. When he opens the door all of the villagers came to help as if they were reading his mind. All of the tired and worried villagers come together and scatter around the light house acting like a blanket of light, penetrating the eery darkness. The blanket managed to produce enough light to make the massive boat head out of the way. Would that ever happen again?

The bright light from the light house consumed the darkness of a small village. People were celebrating and being wild animals. A certain man was grumpily working hard and was stuck in the lighthouse, growing tired of the towns noise.

Shortly after, he hears a noise he’s never heard before that came from the top of the colossal lighthouse. The lights went out in a flash, like a gust of wind. He then falls to the cold, hard floor from losing sight. The man finds a light and dashes up the stairs like an animal hunting down its prey. He squints at the broken machinery, then grabs a toolbox and rushes frantically to the light to find out what went wrong.

A boat arrives to the island and the man gets worried about it, terrified it might crash without the light to guide it. As he tries to fix the light, it falls to the floor and shatters to a million pieces. The boat is getting closer to the impending crash.

What the man didn’t realise is the villagers, who earlier had angered him, had also noticed the missing light from the usually bright lighthouse. People gathered with their lamps so together they could make a light like the sun. The man raced out of the lighthouse to be greeted by his fellow villagers, and he was overcome with relief that they had come together to help.

The man and the villagers stood together with their lights, on the lighthouse and on the ground surrounding it. They had all saved the incoming boat by guiding it with their light.

The glistening moon hung high above the black canvas setting; the stars elegantly danced around the moon as the bold, towering lighthouse perched on the edge of a high, cliff. Below it, the sea crashed and banged against the flint cliff as if the sea was trying to wake it up.

Meanwhile, all the villagers crowded together watching the light on the lighthouse spin around and around, obviously never getting bored of it. Yet there was only one person missing out. And That was the lighthouse keeper. Isolated in the large, majestic tower, the people outside, who were having fun, made a bit too much noise and before he knew it, he slammed his window to block all noises.

The man was so lonely that he could even hear himself talking in his mind, but then, before he could even blink. Bam! All the lights were out. Including the lighthouse lights! He went complete panic mode, quickly he fell off his chair and lay flat on the floor for at least 10seconds. Then he pounced back up and sprinted up the stairs and watching the boat coming this way. His mind going completely haywire! He had to move the large light, but it was too heavy and before he knew it, he was flat on the floor covered with millions of shattered glass over him. He knew what he had to do...

He sprinted at full speed down the stairs panting like a dog and aching like he had ran a marathon. In a split second he ran carefully over were he fell last time, and slowly opened the door, his mind filled up with wonders and thoughts. Why? How? He couldn’t believe his eyes. All the villagers proudly walked up the hill holding dozens of bright and powerful lights, the destressed man gazed in wonder and broke silence. They all gathered together up the stairs once more. Carefully minding each step as one miss-step could break all the light source and leave the people on the boat in great danger.

They were there, proudly watching over the bold blue sea. A dream come true one said, while the lighthouse keeper fixed the light to be brighter than ever. This would never be forgotten..

Clouds danced across the twinkling sky as the lighthouse did its job at the edge of the rocks. The city people cheering as it turned to face them. It scanned the night searching for any signs of trouble in the town. It was the towns protector and never stopped searching. The lighthouse keeper struggled, groaning as the towns people cheering as the light swooped them.

The lighthouse was old and rickety, it had been there a long (since 1978) time. It had tiny old windows made from oak. It also had white bricks all the way up to the oak roof. It sat right on the edge of the cliff were the waves crashed and coiled around the rocks. They had been there for so long. It has been his job for so long He was working relentlessly to keep the town in check and writing his bills down. He slammed the window shut in frustration after hearing quite enough laughter and cheering.

Suddenly CRASH! It seemed like the whole world shut down. Silence broke over everything and everyone.

He stumbled around and startled; he fell of his chair. She stumbled up the stairs to see what the matter was as the villages were shocked at what was going on. up and up, he ran grabbing his toolbox on the way. He ran and ran heart thumping in his chest in ‘till he finally got to the top.

He got to the lightbulb and peeked inside then heard the worst sound the possibly could. A boat. He rushed and picked up the huge bulb. It was extremely heavy, but he managed to... NO! He tripped on his toolbox and the bulb smashed into a thousand pieces. There was no choice. There was no way he could get the boat to stop on his own and it was edging closer by the second. He ran down the stars with the candlelight burning his eyes. Swinging open the oak door his jaw dropped.

A blanket of light flooded his eyes! They had climbed all the way up the hill to help him light the night again. They lit the lighthouse again and the boat turned around before it was too late. They were a blanket of togetherness lighting the way.

On a deep, dark, depressing night, a bright, shining moon glistened its reflection on the bottomless ocean as a light shimmered in the moon light sky; where was this light coming from you ask? A proud standing lighthouse on the edge of a cliff ready for anything coming its way. Further away from the lighthouse was a few lit-up homes and a bar with everybody inside of it as they cheered on and on

Standing tall and proud, the lighthouse’s light spun around looking to help boats around it while inside of the lighthouse was a man. A man who wanted peace to do his work. All the cheering and shouting was distracting him from doing it, so the only thing he could do was shut the window bringing the depression and despair into the room. As a candle sat next to him for his sight, a loud noise came from the top of the lighthouse. As soon as he heard it, the window slammed open and the candle flame flickered out and left of thin smoke which evaporated into the air. He got up from his seat and tripped over from the amount of darkness that was in there, the man grabbed the lantern next to him and ran up the stairs.

Running faster than ever before, he was almost at the top and that’s when he noticed with horror that the cogs had stopped rotating. As the last set of stairs faced him, he grabbed his toolbox and ran up them. What he saw was worse than ever. The light stopped working. He put down his toolbox and before he could get to the light bulb, he saw the danger coming to him. A boat had appeared out of the shadows and was coming towards the island. He panicked and was shacking harder than ever, the boat started to get closer and the lives on that boat was getting closer to their end. He tried to pick up the light bulb but as soon as he did, he tripped over the toolbox and the bulb smashed into millions of thousands of pieces. He had put people in danger. Until he got a light bulb moment (no pun intended) He ran down the stairs, opened the door and saw...

He saw the happiest thing in his life. Everybody had walked up the steep mountain with their lanterns. A smile appeared on his face as he told them to come in. All the people started to walk up the stairs until they made it to the top. They put their lanterns over the rails and the boat got back to the island safely than ever.

The Lighthouse by Evie De

One dark, windy night the lighthouse lit so bright and was standing proudly, as the keeper of the light was watching carefully at the sparkling gloomy night. The lighthouse was perching against the edge of the wave crashing rocks, As the man carefully watched the amazing night sky with glistening stars that danced in the moonlight, he got moody and grumpy about the very loud noises that were happening and this made him slam the window as hard as a brick falling to the ground.

Suddenly, the lighthouse turns of its bolding out glowing lights and the man in pitch black steps over his tool box and trips, he then found a bolting big light and shines it up to the rusty old cogs. The cogs are where they help the lighthouse work and if the cogs don’t work that will be a bad situation and then the boats will not be able to see the light and they could crash into the village and that will be bad............... it got even worse because a boat was coming into the shore.

The man was now terrified and scared because a light smashed on to the floor and broke into one million pieces, then as quick as a flash he ran down the twizzling stairs and when he got to the bottom, he started feeling dizzy. No wonder he did because he ran down so many whirling steps I would of fell over straight away. Confused on what just happened, the man jogged as fast as a tiger and saw in the distance that all the other villagers were holding huge lanterns.

When he got a bit closer, he had found that the light was coming from the people climbing up an extremely tall and steep hill, he felt so proud that everyone was helping him make light stronger and then they all worked together to go up to the very top of the lighthouse and made sure that when the boat came that it turned around, and that’s exactly what it did.

The Lighthouse by Iris

One eerie night - when the moon was high and bright - and the clouds cascaded in front. Below, laid a beacon of light, shooting out from the side of a building, a lighthouse. It perched on the side of a large rock, hovering over the brisk waves that were ready to swallow its prey.

Inside of the lighthouse, sat the keeper of the lights, the keeper of the lighthouse. As the ritual sounds of the townspeople started, the lighthouse keeper slammed the window, leaving him in peace once more. The only light he had was the one isolated candle that was flickering on and off.

All of a sudden, a loud ‘crash’ came from upstairs and the lighthouse keeper’s face was flooded with fear; darkness consumed the village. Sprinting up the winding stairs, his mind was going haywire with thoughts: did it smash? what was that? is there a boat? Panting, he had finally made it to the top but what had gone wrong? The cogs were moving fine? He decided to go to the light, the very top.

Grabbing his tool kit, the lighthouse keeper descended up the steep stairs, panting rapidly. Suddenly, a loud ‘honk’ from a boat shook him with fear, the boat was coming towards the jagged rocks. He lifted the light down to the floor, but little did he know, his toolbox was behind him.

CRASH! The light had smashed into a million pieces, each one quivering softly on the floor. The look of realisation on his face was horrible as he peered back to see the boat still approaching. Then it hit him, he had an idea…

Racing down the stairs, he reached for the door but, to his surprise, something was at the door. A carpet of light trailed down the hill, many lights held in the air; at that moment, he knew the boat was saved!

Standing on the balconies the townspeople each held lights in their hands, creating an orbit of light. The boat finally knew its fate and quickly changed course; everyone was safe at last.
