Children in Broadstairs have taken a magical history tour back to the time of ancient Egypt.
Pupils in Year 4 at Upton juniors dressed in splendid home-made robes and garments from the period as a range of characters from pharaohs to mummies mingled throughout the day.
They learnt about the ancient civilisation and how it developed and tried their hand at creative art and literacy, exploring hieroglyphic writing and papyrus paper, the use of death masks and how pyramids were built.
KIC Theatre group held a series of drama workshop sessions with pupils who enjoyed music, movement and song.
Fran Hare-Winton, acting head of Year 4, said: “Themed days are a brilliant and effective way to really explore a subject, and the Egyptian event was part of our temples, tombs and treasures learning.
“The costumes and outfits that our pupils created with their families were creative, colourful and beautifully detailed. Some of our staff dressed up too and they looked fantastic as well.”
