Measuring Fun with Miss Bunce and Mrs Pellett
The children have put everything they have learnt about measuring and perimeter into practise this morning.
This morning, Miss Bunce and Mrs Pellett's maths groups combined. The children were tasked with measuring, calculating and problem solving all based on our learning from this week.
We took part in a carousel of:
-Long jump: The children, working in groups, had to jump, measure how far they had jumped, order their jumps in ascending order and problem solve with this information.
-Calculate perimeter: The children were given the task of calculating the perimeter of a tennis court which was made up of squares and rectangles. Given only one side, the children had to use their knowledge of shape to help solve this tricky problem.
-Beanbag throw: The children had to throw a beanbag, measure the distance and again solve problems using this information.
-Elaborate: At this station, the children had to showcase all that they had learnt this week. They presented this information as a poster and were asked to create it as a teaching aid for someone who has not learnt about measurement before!
All children did exceptionally well and truly showcased their learning.
