6Y Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is held on the 11th of November - the 11th day of the 11th month of the year. A two minute silence is always held at 11am to remember the millions who have died at war. We pay thanks and remember those who died and those who fought as well as those who are still fighting for us now. 

In English, we looked at the poem Dulce et Decorum est. We looked at the authors use of emotive and powerful language and used inference skills to unpick the meaning. We then went on to turn the poem into a narrative. During the afternoon, we discussed the significance and symbol behind the poppy and created a piece of art work to commemorate Remembrance Day.
