Term 5: Water World

Well done to everyone who completed their Thematic homework this term. A special shout out to Elenie for her fabulous bridge over a river. Well done Elenie.

English:

In English this week we finished our class text: Song of the Dolphin Boy. We planned and wrote a persuasive letter to an MP to stop the opening of a large supermarket. We used emotive and persuasive language, modal verbs and rhetorical questions in our writing.

Next term we will begin our new class text: The Boy at the Back of the Class.

Maths:

This week in maths we completed our measurements unit by exploring some problem-solving questions involving money, fractions, length and weight. We finished the week by completing our post-unit quiz.

Next term we will begin our shape and symmetry unit.

Thematic Curriculum:

Our afternoon lessons had a science focus this week. We investigated changes in state between solids, liquids and gases and the reason why they change. We finished the week with our parent Celebration of Learning event. The children sang beautifully and enthusiastically the water cycle song and then explored a range of changing state experiments. It was a wonderful afternoon, and we thank everyone who came to support us.
