Year 6 Weekly News – 17.10.24

In Year Six this week...
📚 English
This week, the children moved away from our termly text Floodland and applied their reading, writing, and research skills to create non-chronological reports about the causes of climate change. This links beautifully to one of the key themes in Floodland. The children have developed their use of technical vocabulary and produced thoughtful, informative reports. After the break, we’ll be diving into our exciting new English text – Viking Boy!
➗ Maths
In Maths, the children have continued to deepen their understanding of division, applying their knowledge to a range of problems. Mastering this key strategy will not only support them in their KS2 SATs but also equip them with essential life skills.
🌍 Thematic Curriculum
This week, our focus has been on Judaism in Britain. The children explored how being Jewish shapes a believer’s daily life, learned about influential Jewish individuals today, and discussed the importance of community in people’s lives. After half term, we’ll begin our new unit on the Viking invasion of Britain and how it helped shape modern Britain.
