The new intake of Year 3 children are up and away on their learning journey at Upton Juniors in Broadstairs.

Careful planning by staff has ensured that the class of 2025 are already integrating well into the community that will be their home from home for the next four years.

Head of School Darci Arthur said: “The first few weeks are extremely important and every effort is made to ensure they receive a warm welcome and are helped to feel part of our ‘family’ as soon as possible.

“They are encouraged to settle into a classroom pattern that very quickly helps them adapt to their new surroundings, fellow pupils and teachers.

“The transition so far has been very positive and I see lots of happy, excited and smiling children in our Year 3.

“Expert professionals are on hand to help guide them on their way and listen to any concerns they may have and offer reassurance and guidance.

“Families are also considered and we ensure that they get updates on how their children are settling in.”

Head of Year 3 Becky Andrews said that children have engaged in a variety of activities designed to help them feel comfortable in their new classroom environment.

She said: “They quickly started forming connections with their classmates and adults, and we’ve seen some fantastic energy and curiosity in the classroom.”

In a message to families, she said: “We understand that the first days at a new school can sometimes bring up questions, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to discuss how your child is adjusting.”

To find out how children are settling into life at Upton, teachers will be hosting meetings for parents on Monday, September 16, throughout the afternoon.

Weekly blogs on the school website are a go-to news and information source that share highlights from the classroom, showcase children’s achievements, and provide insights into the various activities and projects under way.

She added: “It's a fantastic way to stay connected and engage with your child's education.

“Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to many more exciting days ahead as we watch your child grow, learn, and thrive in Year 3.”
