One Childhood - One Chance

Upton’s Fun Day Fundraisers

The Power of Laughter was enthusiastically celebrated at Upton Juniors in Broadstairs for Red Nose Day 2026.

Children made donations to the Comic Relief charity to wear their own red themed or silly outfits or even their own clothes for the day.

Upton’s Personal Development Lead Izzy Reed led a whole school assembly which centred on laughter and how it can support pupil wellbeing and friendships.

She said: “We also explored the importance of raising money collectively, working as a team and supporting vulnerable communities in the UK.

“The day links with our PSHE (personal, social, health and economic education) curriculum and one of our core themes which is Living in the Wider World.

The estimated amount raised at Upton is around £400. Head of School Darci Arthur said: “We always actively support the work of Comic Relief at Upton and once again our children enjoyed the fun side of red nose day by embracing just how positive laughter can be for them.

“They also found out more about the excellent work of the charity and how it supports individuals and communities which is all part of our pupils developing social responsibility and awareness.”

Upton Juniors is part of the Viking Academy Trust with partner schools Chilton Primary and Ramsgate Arts Primary.
