Term 1: Make Some Noise
This term in Year 4 we have been learning about Sound. The children have worked exceptionally hard on their homework projects this term. Here are some of the great projects we have received:
English:
This week in English, we linked with our afternoon lessons by writing an explanation text about sound. We used different organisational features including subheadings, paragraphs and bullet points as well as technical vocabulary.
Next term, we will begin by writing a journal as one of the characters.
Maths:
In maths this week, we continued with multiplication and division by finding factors of numbers and multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.
Next term we will continue with multiplication and division by using formal written methods.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week during our Thematic lessons, we made ear defenders using a range of materials, including fur, felt, teddy stuffing and pipe cleaners. We tested them out to see if they reduced the noise around us.
Our afternoon lessons also consisted of RE, which linked to Judaism. We explored the Jewish festivals of Passover and Hanukkah as well as Yom Kippur. We made Seder plates and labelled them with why each item is important and what it symbolises.
