English:
This week in English, we started our new text: Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx. It is about a girl whose dad journeys to Egypt to obtain a special book to help her. Marcy then goes on a mission to save her father. We wrote an adventure journal detailing the beginning of Marcy’s courageous journey.
Today, we spent some time with Year 3 for our Book Banter session, sharing stories and our love of reading.
Next week, we will finish the first instalment of the adventure journal and will write a setting description of the sphinx.
Maths:
In maths this week, we consolidated our understanding of multiplication and division we have covered so far. We also completed a times tables lesson to help us learn our tables. Finally, we used partitioning to multiply with a factor greater than 12, following the distributive law.
Next week we will continue with multiplication by using formal written methods.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week during our afternoon lessons, we have been focusing on PSHE. Across the week, we have looked at some of the protected characteristics, marriage, respecting each other and effective teamwork and collaboration, as well as being kind online.
We completed artwork to celebrate our unique qualities, designed a symbol that links to marriage and survived on a desert island.
Next week we will begin our new topic: Walk Like an Egyptian.
