English:

This week in English, we introduced our new book: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. We spent time exploring who the character of Edward is and wrote a character description of him. We thought about the vocabulary we used and used descriptive phrases to bring Edward to life. We also discussed the importance of authorial intent and why certain information is shared to help the reader to understand events and characters better.

Next week we will write a recount of a scene from the book using cohesive devices.

Maths:

In maths this week, we began our time unit. We explored analogue and digital time as well as converting 12-hour time to 24-hour time.

Next week we will continue to explore time, including converting between units.

Thematic Curriculum:

This week during our afternoon lessons, we focused on kindness in our PSHE sessions. We discussed how we can show kindness, appropriate physical contact and whether keeping secrets is safe or unsafe.

Next week we will begin our new topic: Innovation Station.
