Year 4 Weekly News – Friday 18.09.26
We have had a fabulous week in Year 4 this week. Take a look at what we have been up to…
Key Messages for Next Week…
Tuesday 22nd September: Year 4 Wow Day – children can come dressed in something related to Ancient Egypt or holiday maker (see separate letter).
- Thursday is swimming for 4B and 4G. Please ensure that full swimming kit is brought in on that day. If your child cannot take part, please contact their teacher or the office to explain why. Children MUST have a swim cap and earrings removed.
- Children can come to school in their PE kit on swimming days.
- Please ensure children are wearing correct school uniform and shoes, including a tie.
- Please ensure children are bringing in their water bottles every day, preferably with a sports cap.
- Wellies are needed so that the children can access the field during break and lunch times.
- Please ensure children always have a coat in school as they will access outdoor areas in all weathers.
- PE is on a Wednesday. Children to come to school in their PE kit.

Weekly Homework Tasks:
Reading daily – please bring in your reading record signed by an adult.
TTRS - at least 3 times a week for 10 minutes.
AR Quizzes – complete on Accelerated Reader once book has been completed. This can be done at home or at school.
Please note, TTRS and AR have different logins.
English:
This week in English, we wrote a character description for magician Abdul Kazam from Leon and the place between. We focused on using a range of descriptive language to describe his appearance and personality.
Next week, we will be beginning our new book and will write a journal.
Maths:
In maths this week, we focused on rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000 using number lines.
Next week we will begin our addition and subtraction unit.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week during our afternoon lessons, we looked at why the River Nile was important to the Ancient Egyptians. We made annotated 3D models to show what we learnt. We also looked at Ancient Egyptian artwork and created our own version.
Next week we will look at architecture and will begin our science sessions.
