English:
This week in English, we began writing a setting description of the desert and outside the sphinx. We used subordinating conjunctions and expanded noun phrases in the description. We also celebrated National Poetry Day by reading the poem ‘Woodlice’ and wrote our own based on the structure.
Next week, we will be completing the setting description.
Maths:
In maths this week, we explored subtraction with regrouping, including numbers with zeros. We also looked at some addition and subtraction word problems.
Next week we will complete this unit by exploring comparison and multi-step problems.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week during our afternoon lessons, we focused on science. We looked at digestion and demonstrated the process using mushed-up food and tights! The children placed the digestive organs in the right place on the body and described the process using the correct organ names.
Next week we will look at food chains and classification of animals.
