It has been another busy and highly successful week in Year 6.

This week, the children have started an exciting new class text, Kensuke’s Kingdom, which follows the story of a young boy, Michael, who becomes shipwrecked on a tropical island. Inspired by the text, the children have been writing creatively about the food sources available to him, even designing their own imaginative island soup recipes!

In Maths, the children have been applying their learning to real-life situations. They are currently working as “designers on a budget,” planning and creating their own theme parks while managing strict financial constraints. We’ve been impressed with their creativity and problem-solving skills.

A quick reminder about the letter sent via MCAS regarding booking tickets for the upcoming production, as well as providing permission for your child to attend Dreamland for rehearsals and performances. Thank you to those who have already completed this.

Please also note that the dress rehearsal will take place on Tuesday 7th July. If you have any questions about your child’s costume, please contact their class teacher directly.

Homework Reminders

•             Reading: Please read with your child at least three times a week.

•             Accelerated Reader: Children should choose books within their ZPD range and complete a quiz after finishing each book (in school or at home).

•             Times Tables: TTRS at least three times a week.

•             Mathletics: This week’s task is set and due Friday.

•             Spellings: Choose 10 spellings each week and practise using the strategies shown in their spelling journal.

•             Thematic – please choose a task from the grid below to complete weekly.
