One Childhood - One Chance

The Great, the Bold & the Brave.

On Tuesday 7th November, year 6 enjoyed a Great, Bold and Brave WOW day!

The day started with researching and designing shields. We looked at different shapes and designs of shields and then looked at how different symbols and colours mean different things; for example, the colour purple corresponded to a royal connection and the symbol of a star represents nobility. There were many different designs throughout the class!

After break we enjoyed KIC Theatre with Ian. In the hall, we acted out a series of scenes for the Battle of Hastings and the events leading up to it. Immy played the role of King Harold, who was defeated in battle by Toby H (Duke William) and then Immy (Harold) unfortunately received an arrow to the eye.

After lunch, we made cookies using a simple (no eggs) recipe and a microwave. Opinions on the cookies were split; some loved the microwave cookies, others found them undercooked and raw.

Our last activity was making Viking jewellery out of clay. This was an enjoyable activity but some found it hard - the clay was either too crubmly and so fell apart, or got too wet and too slippery. Some of the jewellery that some children made looked beautiful.

We had a realy enjoyable day and it was a great way to start our new topic on Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans.
