One Childhood - One Chance

Reach for the plants

3Y have studied the parts of the plants and have created actions to help us remember.

Today 3Y got up and active to create actions to help us remember the parts of a plant.

We turned our hands into petals and put them to our face to remember that the 'flower' is the beautiful part that attracts bee's and other wildlife to help with pollination.

We reached up tall to represent the stem. We learnt that the stem acts like a straw and transports water through the flower.

We held our hands out to be leaves. We learnt that leaves create food for the flower through the process of photosynthesis.

We reached down low to represent the roots. Roots hold the flower in the ground and absorb all the nutrients from below.

Creating these actions helped us to label and explain the features of a plant.
