Number Day Fun
3Y's hunt for Tim the Times Master
3Y have enjoyed celebrating the NSPCC Number Day.
Today we have been putting our maths brains to the test in a range of different activities. We looked at building 2D and 3D shapes, using rope and working in groups to create shapes outside and we also looked at doubling and halving numbers. After break Year 3 were set a mission to find the name of the naughty pirate who is planning to steal the Upton Ship! The children solved multiplication questions and went on a scavenger hunt, to find letters that were linked to their answers, in the playground - the children found out that we were looking for Tim the Times Master. Afterwards, we discussed what this pirate would be like, we discussed his love for times tables and we created WANTED posters. (Keep an eye out, he is still on the loose!)
This afternoon, the children enjoyed tesselating 2D shapes to create colourful patterns.
We also discussed our favourite numbers and why we like those numbers!
Thank you to all parents for donations and help with outfits for the day, it really made it fun, enjoyable and memorable for all.
