Year 5 have been working on perfecting our written methods of both short and long multiplication, as well as short division (we call this the 'bus-stop' method). Today the children worked together in two teams to answer various questions using these methods. After each question, the winning team then had a chance to move their counters on a Connect 4 grid. (There were some mercenary moves shown!) It was brilliant to see every child involved and doing their best to use these written methods to solve problems both with speed and accuracy. Extra credit was given to children who showed they were terrific team-players, and to children who demonstrated great determination. Treats were had by all to celebrate their successes.
