6B - Classfication
This week in Science we have been learning about classification. We started last week grouping animals into: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish. In order to do this we looked at the specifications for each group and started to classify. We then investigated what the words vertebrate and invertebrate. Using our knowledge we then created our own animals and described its appearance, where it lived, what it ate etc. From the information we provided we then asked our partners to classify it. Angel said, " I created a Whelmers Warbler Baat. It's eyes have evolved over time to correct its eyesight and its teeth have grown to allow it to chew into hard nuts. Florence, my partner, was able to classify it correctly based on the information I provided."
Later on, we looked at classification keys. We were given pictures of animals and from this, with our partners, we created our own classification keys. You can see these in the photos below.
