6R visit the Powell - Cotton museum

6R are wowed by the 4 metre long python skin.
As part of their learning for the 'circle of life' UBBC this term, Year 6 visited the Powell- Cotton museum. This local museum is home to the collection of Percy Powell-Cotton who hunted and collected animal specimens around the turn of the 20th century. Nowadays, the collection is used for scientific study. Through handling and studying the specimens, the children learned more about the areas of evolution and inheritance, adaptation, camouflage and natural selection. The children had mixed and thoughtful reactions to the collections. In all, it was a day packed with learning.
