The Highwayman is a narrative poem, written by Alfred Noyes and first published in 1906. It tells the story of a highwayman who has fallen in love with Bess, a landlord's daughter. As the highwayman rides to secretly visit his love, a jealous rival for Bess' affections alerts the authorities.

Today we wrote a character description of the Highwayman. We looked at using new vocabulary learnt and figurative language.
