One Childhood - One Chance

6Y Global Warming

This week we have been answering these questions:

- What climate change?

- How is it affecting our world?

- What can we do to help?

We also wrote letters Mr Tshisekedi, the President of Congo. Explaining to him why it is important that he puts a stop to deforestation of the Congo Basin to help climate change.

Take a look at some of our work below.

Dear Mr Tshisekedi,

I am writing to you to try and persuade you to try and stop deforestation in the Congo Basin. I feel I have the need to write to you and discuss why I think you should try and stop deforestation to help climate change. Deforestation is no help with climate change so here are some reasons why I think you should consider stopping it.

Firstly, there is no need cut down the trees we could find another way to get wood instead off immediately cutting down perfectly fine trees that are some animal's home. Next it is causing a lot of damage to the world around us for instance the trees being cut down could cause fires and the climate change like the weather or ice melting or sea rising so it is potentially very bad for the environment. Deforestation is also a reason of climate change which causes pollution which you should know is not good for the environment either. Chopping down trees isn't going to help as I said at the beginning of this letter but now I hope you have considered it how I do and thought of all those precious animals whose homes are being destroyed.

Thank you for reading this letter and I hope you have possibly thought of rethinking deforestation and will consider helping out climate change, our beautiful planet and those animals hopefully in the future it will all be sorted out and the world will be a happier place for the animals.   Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Tshisekedi,

I am writing to you to… on behalf of the world every single country thinks this time to stop the deforestation and if you agree with us it would be much easier on you there are several reasons why which I will enclose inside this letter and I'm sure you can think of one or two yourself.

First of all, you want your people, the people of Congo, to like you but they are wanting deforestation stop. You say that you do what the people want but you're obviously not listening to them because, you know and I know they're not saying continue chopping down our trees.

Secondly, when you became the president of Congo you saw a beautiful country with fruitful trees and plants aplenty but now it is all chopped down and it is all because of your decisions people have tried to stop but they don't have the same power as you. So, it is up to you to make a change.

Last not least, this problem doesn’t just effect Congo. I know for a fact you don't want to be the guy who walks into the room full of the world leaders and says I'm the one who caused the problem with deforestation no one does so you better start now to help fix what you began otherwise they will all be giving you the stink eye when you sit down at the table.

If you just take two minutes of your time to read this letter and give one tiny thought about it you might find yourself changing the state of your country will be better for the people it will be better for you it will be better for the world...

...and you want to be the best, don't you?

From, Ariadne

Dear Mr Tshisekedi,

I am writing to you to persuade you to stop deforestation once and for all. It’s doing no help to the world, only bringing torture. So, here are a few reasons why I think this...

As you probably know, deforestation is having a huge impact on Global warming and this does nothing good to our world. In fact, we are losing animals habitats and that means the animals have nowhere to live and this leads to extinction. We absolutely have no right to be destroying animals' homes just because we want more. They have done nothing to us so, why fight back?!  Secondly, trees contain carbon dioxide and if the trees are being cleared then they will release carbon dioxide and even many more greenhouse gases. This also causes round about 10% of Global warming.

To sum this all up, Deforestation should be stopped as soon as possible and I hope you will consider to take this information and listen to me. Thank you for spending your time to read this urgently important letter. Join the team of helpers to make this happen.

Yours sincerely, Miss. Lapthorn

Dear Mr Tshisekedi,

I am writing to you to express the importance of climate change and how you letting people cut down the Congo  Basin is endangering animals that use that  forest as there home and is the only place they can survive . Also it isn’t just the animals that suffer from these actions it is the hole world because the trees in the Congo basin help to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide that pollutes our air . The Congo basin is in the top eleven forest to get effected by global warming and if u keep letting people cut it down soon there may not be any of it left for future generations to enjoy

I hope you have seen that letting people cut down the Congo basin is wrong like it is to cut down any Forrest and by stopping people from cutting it down you are doing a favour Lots and Lots of people ( and animals )

Yours sincerely Ella
