One Childhood - One Chance

Inspirational Callum Is Kent’s Best Young Cricket Coach

Upton Junior School PE lead Callum Noble has been officially presented with a top cricketing honour.

At a special ceremony at the home of Kent cricket at the Spitfire ground in Canterbury (September 25), Mr Noble was presented with his award as the county’s best young coach by players Daniel Bell-Drummond and Joe Denly.

He said: “It was a great occasion and I am honoured to have received this acknowledgement. I love coaching young players and helping them develop skills and techniques.”

Head of School at Upton Darci Arthur said: “Callum loves sport and he is determined to ensure that our children get every chance to enjoy all the benefits that sport brings.

“He is dedicated, patient, enthusiastic and inspirational in the way he helps pupils of all abilities and ages enjoy the different types of sport we offer at Upton. His award is richly deserved and on behalf of his colleagues, the pupils and families I say a huge well done.”

The nomination for the annual award highlights Mr Noble’s love of teaching cricket in school as well as with Broadstairs Cricket Club.

It read: “Callum is an outstanding young coach working with Broadstairs Cricket Club's Under 11s. He has cultivated an environment where enjoyment goes hand in hand with sporting values, personal development and team spirit.

“He has an approach that instils in his players a deep sense of self-belief, a lasting love for the game, and a genuine pride in their club and each other.

“His commitment extends far beyond the boundary rope-he is a regular presence at club fundraisers and social events, embodying the spirit of community that lies at the heart of grassroots sport.

“In his role as a teacher and PE Lead, he actively promotes the club, creating a seamless pathway for pupils to transition into club cricket.

“Under his guidance, the school’s cricket programme has flourished, with teams consistently excelling in local competitions and reaching county finals. The values he champions at the club-respect, teamwork, and resilience- are mirrored in his school teams.

“Callum's influence also extends to the next generation of coaches. By mentoring older players and helping them recognise and develop their coaching potential, he is

building a sustainable future for the club's junior section. His passion, dedication, and impact make him a truly deserving recipient of this recognition.”

Upton Junior School is part of the Viking Academy Trust with Chilton Primary School and Ramsgate Arts Primary School.
